14 years agoLevel 10I've been using the basic black microsoft mouse for the last year and a half. I've been looking at getting this mouse
http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.171793100/categoryId.35208800
Im a little hesitant to spend $80 for a mouse. Is it really worth that much money? Will it last long? -
14 years agoLevel 10Did you look on ebay for this same mouse? Might be cheaper. There are other decent gaming mice that are less, I think. I got the DeatAdder and am happy with it but have not really fooled around much with the dpi and other settings. Finally got my knife to work with one of the buttons. It was easy (once you know what to do).

14 years agoLevel 10Bunch of us use various models of Razor. IMO... WELL worth it!! I would not use any other mouse unless I could really give it a good try for a bit for free.
That said.. some prefer the Logitech ones. I forget the one I bought at the same time as my Razor (to compare). It has weights in it, so the user can change the feel. Still preferred the Razor, hands down (pun intended!) -

14 years agoLevel 10I bought a Copperhead (Razer) about five weeks ago...had to return it because it broke (no fault of the manufacturer). Newegg refunded my money instead of replacing the mouse. So I bought the Razer Imperator, which is what your link goes to, and I like it VERY MUCH!!! 5600 dpi down to 800 dpi...this mouse is off the hook! It fits in my hand very nicely! I highly recommend this mouse but you MUST, and I mean this is an absolute must, you MUST get the Razer eXactMat with wrist rest to go with your mouse!!! The difference between with and without the "Mat" is so indescribably night and day you will wonder how you were able to ever use a mouse without one of these mouse pads!
Good luck! And YES, it is worth every penny you will spend!!! -
14 years agoTue Mar 02 2010, 10:40AMLevel 10I just jumped on a "Logitech G500 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse" for $57 w/ free shipping from NewEgg. (and a new monitor & vid card...buhbye on-board graphics- buhbye $8 optical POS mouse) We shall see...

14 years agoLevel 10Little how are the two side buttons? Do they stay in place or move around easily? Are they over sensitive, could you click them on accident?

14 years agoTue Mar 02 2010, 03:35PMMain AdminSadly im dependent on my CopperHear Razer mouse. I say sadly for im on my 4th copperhead for after time they have all become defective. Mind you im not overly abusive to the mouse it has been the buttons and the optics that have become defective.
- If you are to buy a razer mouse there are only 2 that you should consider.
-- Boomslang Limited addition: if you have a large hand
-- Copperhead: if you have a regular size hand.
Note: the Razer Imperator you are looking at purchasing appears to be a solid solution with superior specs to the Copperhead.. One big thing to consider is the side button location. It appears the Imperator's side buttons are above the finger/thumb resting location.
Note: As littlefoot indicated. If you purchase a high def mouse a good mouse pad is essential.
Pro's and Cons _ I own both of these:
- Razer ExactMate: Is hard aluminum with a option for a Speed or Control surface.
(Im unable to use this pad, not only is it cold and uncomfortable i tend to lift my mouse. Lifting your mouse even a 1/8th of an inch will distort the optics causing erratic movements.)
- Razer Goliethius: Is a soft mouse pad with a ribbed texture. This mouse pad comes in multiple sizes with either a Control or Speed surface. I bought the control surface. By far the best mouse pad i have used.
NOTE: high end gamers tend to prefer the Eactmate. If you enjoy playing on a hard cold surface running your hand over a Truck bed spray liner type surface(Rhino Liner), this is the pad for you. If you like a softer approach the Goleithius has the benefit of the Exactmate with a softer feel.
-= Overview Suggestion =-
- The Imperator looks like a great option though it is definitely overkill for UrT, with a heavy sticker price.
- You can get a Razer Copperhead for 40-50 bucks along with a good mouse pad for under 30.00. This option could give you a solid gaming mouse and surface for the same price as the Imperator.
