15 years agoLevel 10OK, I got a headset, got myself Team Speak 2 for Linux, connected to the server. I appear as "mic and headphone muted" despite the fact they arent, and options to switch channels are greyed out.
Any suggestions please?

15 years agoLevel 10It took me quite a bit of tweaking to get it working the way I wanted. Start by double clicking the speaker icon in the systray to see if anything is muted.
-
15 years agoLevel 10No, nothing muted... the mic is working, i can hear it through the headphones. but teamspeak doesnt seem to let me speak or hear, or join a channel :(
-
15 years agoLevel 10check your key binds and your push to talk options.

Level 5not sure about this, but i think you have to have mic muted in sound setting to work right, or maybe to prevent echo....anyone? mine is muted
and the join or switch channel is based on the permissions given to you by the admin. you need to be registered and all. -
15 years agoLevel 5I haven't got TS2 working properly in my Linux install, so if anyone has Linux TS2 advice I would appreciate it too! As useless said, being able to change channels is based on whether you're registered and have privileges or not.
It seems that UrT can conflict with ALSA and you might need a special flag on the command line to launch UrT in a mode where it doesn't reserve the ability to record sound. I read that on the TS2 faq, but haven't tried anything yet. -
15 years agoLevel 10ok, ive managed to at least get the client to show me as not muted now
it took a lot of playing about with the capture options in the gnome volume control. B if you want any specific advice best to catch me over chat or something - pm me for my details. im sometimes on irc too
i havent managed to succesfully test it because its 11:30am here in teh uk so i guess you guys are all in bed as theres noone on.
the only problem i have now is that switch channel is still greyed out. its now putting me in the afk channel and i cant get out of it

15 years agoLevel 10Ahhhh! So THAT's why you post messages at 5:00AM our eastern time! I thought you just never sleep.

15 years agoLevel 10haha yeah truth is im getting old i sleep a lot!

15 years agoLevel 10dank has shown me what i was doing wrong as far as switching channels - i hadnt registerd *bonk*.
Now Ive just gotta get sound working in urbanterror when ts is on. I believe what I need to do is to make urt use alsa as ts is using oss.
how i do that is another thing, and it doesnt help that something has gone awry with my system causing urt to hang when i close it :( im going back to fedora asap, just need to back up my moodle server.
