I just played around with a map cycle on Um3's server:ut4_abbey

The problem is it will only ever load abbey in a team survivor (gametype 4) mode.
I don't know if either of these are possible:
1.) Have the server run through a a map cycle once. At the end of the map cycle, tell it to exec another cfg or mapcycle with the next setting for superman. I tried this by adding a "exec other_cfg.cfg" line to the end of the mapcycle text file. No dice.
Maybe there's a "repeat map cycle" option somewhere?
2.) Have B3 control the UrT process completely. I have no idea how that'd work.
Any other ideas? -
13 years agoLevel 10i would really like helping u guys on the URT configs, but i would cause more troubles than i would help.
Ez playing superman only pistols is pretty damn fun. it would be good if we could throw pistols to the heads when bullets ended, so we could taunt enemies :) -
13 years agoLevel 9I think there is a B3 plugin to control mapcycle to allow the same map repeatedly. Haven't used it so I don't know how easy it is or how well it works. Been on my list to investigate for months and there it shall remain.

13 years agoLevel 10It's been a while since I've messed with server configs and mapcycles, but this 'should' all be possible if memory serves me right.
You can load more parameters (server settings) than Tinker explained. Check out this snippet from the end of an old FuKnUt!!! server mapcycle:ut4_superman
In your second mapcycle you need to end with the name of your first mapcycle to complete the recursive approach.

The 1st map in the mapcycle (and maybe also the second mapcycle) must also be in the server.cfg - so you'll need to pick the same one to start both mapcycles. Sounds confusing but let me know if this doesn't make sense!
Tinker, I think for your first abbey instance, the gametype might also need to also match what's in the server.cfg?

Things That dont work
- Play the same map/.bsp in two different game modes in the same cycle.
(UrT reads the cycle in order utilizing the setting found first for any particular map.)
- Swap Roles is really glitchy.
I have found it to be the main cause for getting "cycled out" - I have also seen it do other weird anomalies.
- Gravity
cannot adjust the gravity using the cycle. -
13 years agoLevel 10Just finished testing this on the Um3 server. (No mangos were harmed during my tests.)IT WORKS!!!!!
These are barebones configs, but they work. All you have to do is add in the right parameters for the different modes. (i.e. 2 minute stale potato time for CTF, max rounds for TS, etc)
