FSK405 2016 BBQ

That said, I wanted to get the word out. The FSK405 South Texas BBQ will happen over the Memorial Day weekend. It will follow the same format as last year. Friday at Frog's Lilly Pad, Saturday at the Buzz Shack, and Sunday at the Lake. Details will be coming out soon.
So break out your raincoats and boots and pack for a trip to south Texas. Pray for a dry weekend. Tired of cooking in the f*****g rain!

Can it be different this year in that we don't have some crazy storms that causes us not to have a lake day? Reflux is not the life of the party don't let him lie to you.
Nice lead in buzzkill - had me worried for a solid minute there (I am a slow reader).
I plan on attending for sure. I will also pick up boudin on the way for those of yall that want it.

Also any of ya'll Texans have a recommendation of awesome places to stay? I read that Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek is pretty sweet but wanted some of ya'lls feedback first. Not sure if its worth staying at a great hotel when we wont be there much but all the same.

I stayed at Hampton Inn off of Cabela's drive in buda last time. It was pretty good in that it had an indoor pool which we got to use while the big storm hit (if it was an outdoor pool there would be no way in hell we would have gone swimming). I just checked and it is too soon for me to check prices or reserve a room there.

I have two rooms reserved at Fairfield Inn & Suites in San Marcos. So far I think the beds are spoken for. If anyone else wants to come to the BBQ and needs a place to crash let me know (or respond here) and I can get another room reserved.
Last time we car pooled in a sense to and from the party spots. So of you can at least make it to TEXAS (its bigger than anything else that's why its in caps) then I can get you a place to crash (assuming your not SUPER crazy or ugly).

Apparently the X-Games are going on in Austin June 2-5th. So hotel rooms are getting snatched up quick and are charging a lil more for them. Just an FYI for those who wait too long to book rooms lol.

If you do decide to fly in that is not an issue. Last time FSK had some folks picking people up at the airport and taking them back. I am sure they would be willing to do it again - If not I can come earlier and leave later if need be to be able to pick people up and drop them off at the airport.
I dont know your situation (SG) but for me a plane ride would be a lot better than driving that far by myself (if it ends up that way). You figure about 150 bucks in gas and two days drive blah :(. The little extra money would give you extra days to relax and hang out. Then again maybe you want to check out America's AMAZING interstate system - I can not blame or stop you there.
I can't wait till the BBQ I am stoked!

i would take other routes like RT81 to RT40 on to RT30 to RT35
or you could even take RT81 to RT75 to RT59 to RT20 or go straight down RT59 to RT10/RT12

On the way back we'll be hitting up Oklahoma City, Lake of the Ozark Missouri, Nashville, and then camping somewhere in Kentucky and W. Virginia.

I dont remember ribs last time (dont remember much actually lol, pork is where its at thats for sure!). I remember a time prior when someone made ribs and they were "atmoic ribs" and un edible :(

For 2016 we will continue to keep the festivities at the Frogs for meet and greet, Buzzkills ranch for the food and games and will work to put together a lake day at Canyon Lake the following day (Shelter 3 at Canyon Park). The basic schedule and dates are as follows
Friday, May 27, 2016 (arrivals and evening welcome social, Frogs house) (6pm -11pm)
Saturday May 28, 2016 (BBQ, Games (details to come) and fun) (11am - whenever)

Morning through Evening – Flight Arrivals – If you Opt to arrive early you are pretty much on your own. This is a great time to visit some of the interesting area in and around the Austin Area. My recommended hit list:
Gruene Texas - Dining, Shopping, and Gruene Hall (live music at the oldest standing dance hall in Texas)
Wimberly Texas - Shopping, Art Galleries, Wimberly days, Wimberly Brewery and Brewster pizza.
Fredericksburg Texas - Art Galleries, Wineries and tasking rooms, The National Museum of the Pacific ware (formerly the Nimitz Museum (VERY IMPRESSIVE))
San Marcos The biggest outlet mall in America. Makes my checkbook hurt just thinking about it.
Austin, Buda, Kyle host of other fun places to shop and visit
