FPS lag lives on still

Soooo. I was hoping with io urban terror 4.0 that it would be the end all to the dreaded fps lag. Well not so, as many like myself have found out.

As posted on http://www.urbanterror.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.5

"We are getting reports about the fps being unreasonably low for some people, even with settings low, but we have not yet been able find the reason of it. When you experience it, please try to see if there's any consistency to it. Like: it only happens on this and this server, or only with this and this situation etc. We need info about this."

So heres the deal. If you get fps lag post your system specs, the map it occured on, avg ping, proc type/speed, video card make/model, driver ver, OS, etc.

Hopefully with the fsk community actively providing data for this issue they can find the root cause...

As an example: my specs are,

AMD FX-55 proc
2 gigs DDR 400 ram
evga 7600GT pcie vid card
Win XP pro
Avg ping 60 to 100 or so
FPS lag occurs on all maps randomly (from 125 to 30's then back up)
Nvidia driver ver 93.71

Hopefully one of the FSK folks with links to the dev team can get the data to them....

Just a try on my part to see what we can do.

thankfully I havent had this in the 4.0, even though my card will push a lot more fps I cap it at 60, which is the refresh rate of my monitor, pretty much going for consistency vs. fps. I dont see a difference in performance capping my fps at 60 rather then say 125.

Intel 2.8
1 gig ddr 400
ati 800x pro
win xp
avg ping 25-35

You need to dump the nvidia 97.xx driver series, go back to the 80.xx ones and your FPS come back. I have read this in numerous places!

Ty ghozt. I removed the 9x.xx and went back to 84.21. So far it seems to be working much better. I'll let you know if it starts laggin again. Hopefully the old drivers are the perm fix for this.

Do you have multi-core CPU? If so, you should set your affinity to one cpu. This has helped some.

Ty Frog but I'm currently running a single core AMD FX-55 so the multi core issue wouldn't really be in play. Also as a note: I'm still running the older 84.21 drivers that I moved to based on what ghozt said in the above post. And.... after a couple of days trying different servers etc the fps lag still pops up, any server any map. It's just random. Ping will stay steady but top bar of netgraph goes crazy and fps starts laggin, lag will last a min or two even with no complex carnage going on... Then jumps back to clean solid 125 fps. Kinda driven me nutz...
