Create an Account and Authenticate your In Game Player
1 - log onto urbanterror.info
2 - Set up an account
3 - goto your profile
4 - locate the "My game auth key" tab on the right hand side of the screen
5 - Copy the key provided
6 - Minimize the web browser and open your UrbanTerror4.2/q3ut4 directory.
7 - Locate and open the "authkey" file with word pad, and replace the "0000000000000" with your key.
8 - save and start 4.2 - You are now authenticate.
If you don't have an "authkey" in your "q3ut4" dir, download the attachment and amend it.
In Game Note's
does /cl_auth_key show the same as you pasted?
If not, then
1) bring down your console,
2) type /cl_auth_key
3) paste your auth key value
4) hit enter
Still Not Working?
- Make sure you disable peer blocker or other blockers that may be blocking the authkey
- Ask for assistance

Game freezes at 'sending request to authserver'. Have triple-checked key. Have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to Task Manager and force game program to shutdown to regain control of computer. Have reviewed forums, both here and at FS. Does anyone have a magic wand? Getting colder, and I'm itching to kill sumthin.

Win7, UT ver 4.2.015, Run as Admin, have tried 'compatibility mode', reinstalled, same result no matter what I try.

Got the game to run, finally. It didn't like something in my old q3config.cfg file. Another user reported the exact same issue, turns out his problem was a 'doppler' sound setting. Not sure what mine was/is, but it's running.. Now to get back to my game control settings... lol

For the record, FS is saying DO NOT reuse your q3config. These exists the potential of some cvars carrying over from previous editions of UrT that adversely affect 4.2. You should be using your autoexec.cfg for personalized binds and things.
Don't believe me? Live with the results of your game not starting, or just plain running like crap. We have documented cases of carry overs messing with performance. Many of us have gotten accustomed to copying our q3config.cfg around and getting lucky. It's a bad idea, and a bad habit we've fallen into.

cant register my account. I registered some time ago and now it doesn't work. I have tried registering a different version of my tag - no avail all of them are registered. I tried to do password recovery using my email address and apparently urbanterror doesnt like hotmail so it kicks it out.
I have tried my back up gmail account and no avail. I guess I am stuck as unregistered forever...oh well I have tried wayyyyyyy too many times and wasted too much time on it already.
