Lag Spikage
Biff, Mon May 15 2006, 04:48PMI think Time Warner bought a batch of modems from w4llh4x0r's ISP. :( I've been having huge lag spikes every 15-30 secs ever since they put a new modem. Is anyone else having a similar problem? I assume not, but I want to make sure before I call up TW and bitch.

check your pc for adware and spyware too man also have you ever used this tool ftp://ftp.fsk405.com/pub/FSK405/urbanterror/maps/utils/TCPOptimizer.exe
Set the TCP receive window to 513920, TTL 64, MaxMTU 1500, etc
I usually check the extreme, Modify alll network adapters, and custom tabs and click apply.
This modifys registry entree's and makes your connection a bit faster most of the time.

Cool, tks ghozt...I think I figured out the problem (see below), but I'll tweak my settings anyway. Can't hurt. ;)
I forgot that I also installed the new 1.32c binary from id. Of course I saved the old one, and when I reverted back to it the lag problem went away. Seems like there's an issue with the new binary. Or if the server is still running the old one, maybe they don't work well together? *shrug*

HAHAHAHA, I got my hopes up and thought someone felt my pain! 15 seconds? I WISH, mines every .5 seconds. My ISP is sending their top technician out tomorrow in the morning to check it out because they have NO clue to what is going on!

Wall, you must have been pretty bored digging up these old posts from two and three years ago to comment on them! Does your sudden re-appearance mean you are going to be playing some UrT in the near future?
