Badnames?

What means "badname"?
Offensive, racist etc. - thats clear.
Nicks of admin - first ask for changing with explaining, if no change warn etc - okay.

What is with names like "///player" or "." "12345" "bcahvcsobsdbvhdsbvbdfbo" - badnames also?
For those who don't know:
Player who use "///" in their names aren't abe to get aliased, you don't see the warnings because the "///" don't work with b3.
Name ".", needs to get aliased by slotnumber via /playerlist or !list and you don't see the players' health. Is it a badname then?
Name: "123455" - only alias, warn etc via slotnumber possible.
Name: "bcahvcsobsdb..." - just a spam name, somtimes not able to read or easy to get it like "#&%§$"§´:".
Last two not really badnames imho, but whats with "." & "///player"

Devil,

I agree, I'd place most of your examples in the generic bad name category, but hardly take the time to worry about them.

Are you aliasing everybody that shows up on the server instead of just playing the game? I ask because you should be enjoying the game, not playing police man. If you are needing to alias somebody for a good reason, then using !list or /playerlist is just part of being complete in doing the job. Don't get caught up "chasing" bad guys, remember to enjoy playing.

The Superman server gets a lot more unwanted attention from asshats and thus I understand the struggle in dealing with them. I've seen a lot of names that I wouldn't consider a badname, but damn hard to !alias since they use '1' for 'I' and '0' for 'o', crap like that, just to be creative. For example, Frog uses Fr[]g in BF3. Since B3 requires a minimum of three consecutive charters to pattern match, yer screwed. Trolling around on other UrT servers, I see a lot more players and creative names that would reek havoc with B3.

For players with bad names, I generally just leave them alone. If I cannot see your health, chances are I won't med you. Got a short name, then you had better request a med if you see me. If they are acting up and I need to deal with them, chances are that they are gonna get an extra special serving of discipline.

And then there is xyster...

Some people that play with names like that are intentionally trying to exploit a bug or mess with admins abilities in some cases.

Just keep an eye out cuz with some of the bad names, you just cant kick them.

On a rare occasion that did not work for me. Client or player name, nor ip ban. COuldn't get rid of the guy until I restarted the server.

@Reflux
Since I'm headadmin of two german UAA servers I know that being headadmin is sometimes really annoying and of course a lot of work to do.
Example:
Player "." comes on server, says he already had your mum, teamkills a few, turns his aimbot on and says that all black are "niggas". This would be an real asshat and imho he should get banned for a while.
After saying this he disconnected. To !lookup "." is nearly impossible & it isn't working with echelon also.
Headadmin has to check it via chatlog. If it happened maybe 3 days ago it is really annoying to get the chatlog of it, even if you set echelon-chatlog to "500 lines a page".
At your question:
I'm alasing a lot, always with /tell - so I don't have to alias when sth happens.
I try to help the headadmins & more than 50 cheaters caught for FSK405 is sth not many guys made it I think ;)

In that case give him a warning for something dumb and it's easy to find in Echelon. Or kick him so THAT shows up. No?

After saying this he disconnected.

DeviL

There is the problem ;)

I was just interested. For me I prefer sitting spec and watch players than playing for myself. If there are Oldies like BK, BanMe, MT or Binge I jump in - kill ' em all & am happy.

Yah, it seems chatlog is your next best friend, which you are already using. After that, it is just frustrating to deal with if it takes more than a page or two of chatlog review. Do you happen to have more than one monitor? When I am on, I usually have Echelon open on another screen, just in case I need to look up a player.

I always have echelon opened during playing, so I don't need to alias or lookup. Don't have echelon for superman.

Just wanted to know your imagination of category "badnames" to act as admin in your interests.

I rarely alias anybody anymore. It's not that interesting. As per offending names, use your discretion. There is no list of unacceptable names.
