FSK405, 6th floor, Um3, and a fourth clan weekly scrim
deleted-user, Fri Oct 29 2010, 04:08PMSo there's been some discussion on TS3 about creating an "invite-only" league between us friendly clans. We'd need a 4th clan in order to schedule a match for everyone every week. What are all of your thoughts?
- Here's what's brewing in my mind. Points 2 & 3 would be the league's "anti-cheat" strategy.
1.) There wouldn't be a traditional "ladder" as there wouldn't be a traditional "end point" to the 'season'. It's just a weekly match with a clan we know isn't hacking.
2.) Clans added to the 'league team roster' would be invited by the current league members to join.
3.) Demos would be required after every match from every player. Demos would be posted in a "battle rant" thread on one of the clans' forums. (This keeps everyone honest.)
4.) Some method of deciding on maps to play would be used, so on and so forth. We can discuss how we'd come up with weekly maps/respawn times/etc in the thread.

I liked the idea from FTW's triathlon to have 12 minute rounds.
Instead of doing two rounds of 25 minutes of one map it could be 2 12 minute rounds on Casa then another 2 12 minute rounds on Abbey. This way you can play a team on two different maps but it still only takes about an hour. With shorter round times it could also promote some faster game-play. We could add in longer re-spawn times to promote more teamwork. I think FTW's base is 14 seconds. We could try 15 and see how that works

Is there any way we could have a group of us meet on TS3 and discuss this? Heck- I could even offer web hosting (subdomain), and would be happy to be part of an admin team for it.
Very interested to hear others' POV and ideas.

I'm all in on this idea, I've talked with a few people from fsk and um3 and they think that this is a good idea. It would be a way to play and have fun without all the asshats. Posting the demo's would keep everyone honest and maybe even strengthn our strats for the release of 4.2. If this became popular, it might become alot of work and I'll volunteer my time to do whatever it takes to get this thing going. My neighbor has a good program for ladder system that picks random match-ups. I'll get it from him and submit it to hatches SSH server.

FSK has enough members to have two teams. A few teams do this in FTW, they just have a slightly different tag so you know they're a different team. Like BanMe[Um3] and BanMe*Um3. This could give you a chance to bring more members in to league style play.

FSK has enough members to have two teams. A few teams do this in FTW, they just have a slightly different tag so you know they're a different team. Like BanMe[Um3] and BanMe*Um3. This could give you a chance to bring more members in to league style play.

This way we could see what its like going against your own clan and learn from that. The new unclanned members wouldn't get discouraged being on a team with more experienced players.(think i got that right)

Hmm...anyone know about GTV? It's a spec-client that randomly switches between players (I think) and live streams the game for viewers. We could GTV every match and record the output. No player would have any way of knowing whether they're being watched or not. I have no idea how feasible it is to set up...so it might be completely bonkers.

If we could identify 6 trusted clans we would have enough for a small ladder. Otherwise if we had one other clan we could do some weekly clan swapping.

How about a map like, square, like a gameboard (but without any gameboard graphics), that would have a flag in each corner, that each of 4 clans must defend or cap to. Essentially, CTF, but doubled. Is that possible? Might have to limit each team to 4 or 5 players. Doesn't have to be square but I thought that would be easiest to make symmetrical, and fair.

You could place two flags on either side of a square (that's essentially what crazy christmas is).
The trouble is there'd be no way to control which clan spawns where. I suppose each team side could spawn in one central location and have like portals to either A or B.

I think the purpose of this league ladder system is to bring in friendly, mature and trusted clans. Bring in clans such as Vex, Xev and NN defeats the purpose of this league. Its an FSK and friends league and don't see many of them as being friends of the group. This is just my 2 cents.

You know, I was thinking about this the other day...the thought was "there sure is a lot of talk, wonder when there will be some action?" I think the talk is good and I think not rushing into things will only help to make the experience positive for all who may be involved.

what dank suggested.

- May be able to strip some ideas from the TWL site. They no longer support UrT but their ladder system is on point and could be used as a bench mark.

Just so y'all know, I think this is a great Idea and would love competing in a league or ladder that Im positive has players that do not hack! I dont like to compete anymore because of not having anticheat. With this trusted clans thing, it should take the stress out of losing a bit and make it more of a learning/practice environment. I am sooooooo in!

With all the active members of FSK405 there should be no prob running a extra team if needed. How ever many clans are invited and in being in good fun could assist a brother or sister clan with filling a roster for the night.

I put a simple forum up.
lemme know what you all think.

I set up a group in there "members" that controls access to a private forum section.
So after registering an admin just flips the members group on for that user.
Please don't upload huge files, i don't have much disk on that server :)
Forums and Catefories are controlled thru an admin interface.
I can add you in to that if you want to try it.
