oil of oregano on the tooth and gum should help reduce pain caused by inflammation and swelling. Otherwise, walmart and other places sell tooth kits that have some light topical numbing cream.

Depends on your insurance and finances. You might try the ER and they could give something for the pain and maybe an antibiotic.
I got a fish hook in my hand last year and it cost me $50 co-pay in the ER. Got another one (damn Pickeral) a week or so ago and instead paying the new co-pay ($500). I decided to just use the needlenose pliers. It wasn't very deep so came out nicely.

or oil of cloves may help you. If you dont have any oregano/cloves oil , just make strong tea from cloves and rinse your mouth. Its very fast painkiller ,but only for short time. Get a some painkilers (something avalaible in your local store , what containing Ibuprofenum, not paracetamol. From my own experience ) or numbing cream like sheila said and wait until tuesday.

If it is abscessed, don't let him pull it, it'll poison your blood and wreck your heart valves. Happened to a woman I knew. She was literally killed by a dentist.

good luck i was there 3 weeks ago had to see a specialist and still on the mend i sympathize it can really hurt and watch out when or if it ruptures it will make you ill. when at the dentist make sure to have him drain it. it really is icky if you don't. good luck

damnit, wife called freaking out and woke me from a lovely drug induced nap. anyways they are making me come in tomorrow 8am for an emergency visit with their onstaff dental team at the hospital.
Going to the dentist has always been fun for me since Novocaine has absolutely no effect on me.

Having a cavity filled next week. Already made arrangements to get to the dentist one hour before hand for Novocaine injections to kick-in before the drilling commences.

When i have dental pains, i use a paracetemol (BenURon) it´s his name, and it is really fast to slow down the pains from the abcess and dental infection.
If u have it infected the dentist will give u antibiotics to kill the infection, and next week he will se what damages that tooth caused there.
I extracted a tooth on fryday, dentist gave me points on the gum to close the hole, and the only recipe he gave me was paracetemol, to help the inflamation and kill the pains.

just got home from the dentist, they gave me some good shit that worked instantly.. they ended up pulling 2 teeth and gave me a bunch more pain meds. my whole jaw is sore so im gonna go induce a coma and be back later.

get well soon i hope. the post operatory in 2 extractions are really fuked up.
i´ve tried it 2 years ago and the only thing the doctor said to me was: "drink lots of cold beer so u can heal quickly " :P
if he took out 2 teeth from u u hadn´t a infection, wich is good. They wont hurt u no more. :=) good sleep :P

oh it was infected, they drained it first and that hurt like a SOB.. they did the extractions as an emergency extraction to prevent further complications, infection, pain, jawbone infection, etc.....

lol wtf, damn pharmacy called my insurance company because they wouldn't cover more vicodins until tomorrow so they decided to substitute Tylenol 3 (Tylenol with codeine) I called them dumb fucks back and said I can wait a damn day to pick up my vicodins you idiots,(insurance wouldn't cover untill my previous 2 days worth was up) or I can go pay the whole $8.95 CASH. I don't want no damn T3's.. what a bunch of fucking idiots.
