Anyone try the optimized executable?

I stumbled across this on the urbanterror forum, has anyone else given this a shot? Seems cool from what i've read.

well honestly it seems interesting the executable for me, as i sometimes get some freezes to. dunno if it would help or not.

but as far as i understood it, the executable is another application beside URT right? or is a executable to add to our URT isntalled.

didnt see many testers in the page comentaries, i would like to hear some feedback.

but in general i like it

Funny you should bring this up - I just tried it this Sunday right before the scrim. I have never really had any issues with the Urt other than getting mouse buttons 4 and 5 to work. So far so good on this executable, but no noticeable performance increase. Nice to have those mouse buttons finally working; now if I could start remembering that button 5 is mapped to zoom out!

From what I've read, if you have dual or multicore processor you can begin to take advantage of the ikalizer sound and some other kewll features. I'm still on single core, so I'm SOL for now.

Son, it replaces the current ioUrbanTerror.exe it is not added. Simply remove (or rename to something else) ioUrbanTerror.exe in the Urban Terror folder; put the new executable in the same directory and change it's name it to ioUrbanTerror.exe and that's it!

It has some nice little tweaks I might start to play around with at some point, we'll see.

Remember too that there are different builds, the one I'm using is already updated - so your mileage may vary

I noticed some FPS increase. I've never been able to hit 126 on anymap and now i can get it on superman of all maps.

I wish i could find some 3D glasses so i could try out that command.

Lots of little features to try out with this. The clock is a nice touch

LOL Teh Keeper also thinks it might be a hack. Something about that it uses port 1337.

Either way, I'm all for banning BanMe too! ;-)

ehehehhe. F1 to ban the ban_me :P

i have a dual core processor, i will try the application to see if it works on me or not. The function of the 4th and 5th button of mouse is nice to, but i guess it will confume more sometimes. :)

I have been trying the Linux 64 version for the last couple of days.
Since the 4.1.1 update I thought I'd enable bumpy to make the most of the map updates.
Everything looks pretty good although on Casa my framerate suffers.

I have turned off bloom because even at its lowest setting I don't like it, on Superman it looks like someone dropped the bomb.

I'm having a problem with Superman though. Playing this map will crash my client within a couple of minutes. The console doesn't give many clues, error 11 I think.
I can play all the standard Urban Terror 4.1.1 maps without a problem. Anyone have an idea why the optimised client doesn't seem to like Superman?

This problem was the cause of my rage delete of Urban Terror a few days ago. Mine would crash on superman and on any map changes. Its either that you are using bumpy or its a problem with the newer executable. I'm using Jul 30 2010 without a problem with bumpy off. Try turning bumpy off (r_simpleshaders 1) If that doesn't work go here and download this one

I think I may have found the problem.

I just played for a solid hour without any problems on the Yo'Mammas Superman server. I noticed that they had the updated player skins.
I went back to FSK405, old skins, same problem.

BanMe try and see if you get the same result.

I had a problem with the optimal exec. Anytime I am holding my crouch key and want to open up the radio menu, it doesn't open up... =[ So I got annoyed by it an deleted it... =[

Same w/ anyone else?

Player skins have been updated on the FSK405 Superman server and the optimised executable is now working fine fore me with "r_simpleshaders 0" :)

does anyone know why the optimized executable mouse sensitivity is alot different, usually im comfortable playing with the stock settings, but the optmizied version is way less sensitive by default is there any way i can get it back to the normal setting of the orginial launcher ?

/in_rawmouse is probably set to 1. set it to 0 or negative -1 to get to what you are used to feeling. Here's a little blip about it from the guy that made the thing.

Raw Mouse Motion (High-Definition) and Raw Mouse Keys: in_rawmouse 1: It utilizes raw input of Windows in accordance with a Microsoft advisory. The main advantages are higher resolution support and the elimination of cases of negative acceleration. With in_mouse -1/in_rawmouse 0, negative acceleration can occur since an internal desktop cursor is utilized which may produce the quirk if it hits the edge of the window before it recenters. Also, since the virtual cursor only sends signals when it moves, it is lower resolution/higher latency in certain cases. On in_mouse 1/in_rawmouse 0 (DirectInput) there's no negative acceleration attributed to software or lower resolution but there are higher latencies involved (also according to microsoft). The functionality is live, meaning in_rawmouse's value takes effect immediately in game. Since it accesses the raw device it might ignore high-level windows settings such as left-handed switches.

I've been using it for a few months, works very well for me (on Linux).
