FPS Questions

BanMe, Thu Apr 22 2010, 06:20PM

It seems no matter what settings I change i get no change in FPS. Im always averaging around 115-117. Anyone else having this kind of problem?

Video Mode: 1280*1024
Color Depth: 32 bit
Fullscreen: Yes
Texture Detail: High
Texture Quality: 32 bit
Texture Filter: Trilinear
Max FPS: 125
I get 115-117

Video Mode: 800*600
Color Depth: 32 bit
Fullscreen: Yes
Texture Detail: Very Low
Texture Quality: 32 bit
Texture Filter: Bilinear
Max FPS:125
I still get 115-117

Shouldn't i be getting some increase in FPS? I've also tried changing bullet impact settings, showgun, blood and all that good stuff and it has no affect.

Try playing in window mode...you can still play "full screen". I don't know if it will make a difference for you or not *shrug* I just know I play in window mode with two monitors and my fps stays pretty rock solid at 125. Try it and let us know :)

it could be that is where your machines wants to be. Lock it at 110 and be done with it.

suggestions:
Bilinier not Tri
Make sure vertical sync is off
play in custom window mode. (most of us have wide-screen so I set mine to 1750x1150 default for my monitor is 1920x1200) Full screen sucks!

slightly off topic, my monitor is 1920x1050. If i set a custom res to that or any other 16:9 aspect ratio, the image is stretched horizontally, which i find really annoying.

i therefore set my res to a 4:3 aspect ratio, which loses real estate at the sides of the screen - also really annoying, but i find less so than a stretched image. is there a way to fix this?

btw, i find that with my laptops nvidia 9300gs , i cant get a non-tearing image above 60, so i stick on v sync. i can only dream of 125 fps!

I seem to get better fps in XP than Win7. I set it at 125 but rarely get there. Usually in the 90's. Win7 at times gets really laggy. Maybe driver issue. So I usually use XP.

BanMe.
Try install newest (reinstall or install previous version ) of "NET Framework" from Windows Update. Thats may be fix your problem.
Also i had same trouble with video card drivers. Try Upgrade it too.
Now i have in online mode from 95-125FPS on Superman Map and offline (reviewing demos) 100-132 FPS.

edit:/ Its on Fullscreen in video mode 1680x1050 (Win7).

@BanMe: Frog is absolutely correct. Full screen sux. Set your max fps to 110 and let the system spend some extra time doing other tasks in the game.

@dr.worm: Turn your fov up, 110 maybe, to deal with the stretching. That is what others are doing.

@Boogie: I definitely would blame the driver first on an issue like that. Are you running an animated wallpaper?

No animation. Not sure if something like windows defender kicks in.

All -

No to compress textures. It was used when UrT was being played on modems. No need now. Why have your components uncompress the textures before viewing it?

Dr. Worm and anyone else interested.
I also do not like to stretch it all the way out to the sides, that is why I run a custom ratio. My monitor is 1920, so I set it to 1750 which is wider than the 4:3 yet after setting FOV to 110 and 1750 I have just enough room to see my icons on either side.

URT F.A.Q -FPS
I noticed, compressing textures helping to get better FPS on some machines with DUO/QUAD cores processors , not only on slow machines.
