Windows 7 and URT

LaRss, Sun Jan 24 2010, 12:52AM

I recently upgraded my PC and running windows 7.

I have installed io urt and trying to put my old config in.

Problem is my old config is php extension or whatever and now urt doesn't recognize it.

What directory do I import my old config to and how do I make my old q3config.cfg a "cfg" file?

I am completely new to windows 7. When I click on the default config, windows asks me which program I should open it with and I have no clue.

Any help is appreciated.

I use notepad for reading cfg files.
I had no problem using my configs with windows 7.
My advice would be to open old configs with notepad, copy and paste into a new notepad doc and save that as a .cfg make sure to change the save as a .txt to all files.

Hope i've helped

I opened it with notepad, how do I save it as a cfg? The extension is always php.

The cfg file is in Program Files\UrbanTerror\q3ut4. If you use windows explorer, you should be able to right click on it and go to "rename". No? I'm interested because I just got Windows 7 but haven't installed it yet.

If you made a new install of UrT doesn't it create a new config the 1st time you play it? It should. If it does, you can open your old cfg ( I like to use wordpad because it LISTS each setting and makes it easy to open wordpad a second instance to create 2 windows and compare/edit the new cfg). Click save as and type in config.cfg. Typing the .cfg afterwards makes it a cfg

BanMe[Um3

It made it a .txt file not .cfg =/

Boogie I understand what you are saying but when I attempt to open the default cfg it asks me what program to open it with. Once I open it with wordpad/notepad it again makes it into a .php or .txt extension and io URT doesn't read it.

In that case, try and find the option to 'show extensions' or something similar, then change the .txt ending to a .cfg

You could also try changing the program using properties, and look in there to change the file extension

Alright, found out what the problem was. I needed to change folder options in windows 7 to show hidden files and extensions etc.

Thanks all.
