Don't be in too much of a hurry to do the Windows thing, Speedy uses linux and is on TS2 all the time. Let me see if I can point him in this direction :)

Hi Greenie, I've been on vacation and haven't been checking the forums regularly. I use TS2 on Ubuntu Linux. It works...but it is not ideal. There is no solution that I have found, after weeks of searching spread over months of time, to use TS2 at the same time as UrT using one sound card.

If your problem is getting TS2 working by itself, you have a relatively easy to solve configuration problem. By itself, TS2 works just fine.

The only 'easy' solution to run TS2 and UrT with sound together is to actually have two soundcards, believe it or not. It's what I do. My computer has its built-in sound card, which goes to my external speakers. I happened to have an external USB soundcard, which I connect to headphones. So the boom boom sounds of UrT come out of my speakers, and the chatter comes through my headphones, and I can hear both at the same time.

Hope this helps, feel free to post additional questions below or PM me with specifics.

Anything will help thanks B... I believe i do have two sound cards so will try that if all else fails.. My man assured me he will be able to get it going but i need to be patient. UGH darn patience =) I figured there had to be someone out here that used Linux but i suppose not many get on TS.. I hope you had a wonderful vacation and I will See ya in game soon!! thanks again!

I'll second what B says. tbh I have winblows for gaming and linux for doing everything else these days, but back when i only had linux I spent weeks trying to solve the problem too (and bent B's ear about it quite a bit too!) and ended up taking his advice about the two soundcards.

It's an odd setup and not ideal (not least because I often use headphones so as not to disturb my family's tv watching) but it's the only way I could get it to work.

Thanks again btw B for pointing it out to me :)

Actually that's not true. I use TS and UrT on one soundcard (a SB Live) and I'm using the plain old kernel alsa drivers.
If you have a sound daemon (pulseaudio, artsd, esd etc) it will fuck it up.

Get rid of the sound daemon (which ubuntu is notorious for. Personally I use Slackware which doesn't use any of that nonsense) and it will work first time out of the box.
