It's called elephantitis. Edema (water, swelling) goes from an area of greater concentration to lesser (diffusion). Sometimes it goes in the nads.

I was in San Antonio for a meeting last week and a nurse there said 3 employees got fired for taking pictures of ICU patients with this problem. They were putting their heads in the pictures... omg.

xYster is correct, just on Friday, I had a test in Biology regarding this disease. What happens is that there is a worm called the 'Filarial worm' that enters your body from a external source, usually a Blackfly. The Blackfly sucks your blood with its vector (the straw like tube) and while it's sucking your blood, the worm exits the Blackfly and then is entered into your body. Once in your body it lives in your blood vessels and your lymph vessels (these vessels allow transportation for your immune system [White blood Cells]). Since the size of the worm is long, it tends to roll up in a ball and thus, clogging your vessels, causing it to swell. There is treatment, they just uzze out the fluid and the worm. It can block any parts of your body. Your immune system can't do anything about this because the worm is much much larger than a White Blood Cell. It's like a Plant vs Atomic Bomb.

Oh, my caption:

"She said she was a Virgin!"

I worked on a liver unit. They had problems with albumin and thus regulating fluids.
