I need some help. It seems that when I download maps I can't seem to be able to play because i get a message that says can't load soand so map because it cant load the bsp of so and so map. I was using winzip trail version but i think that is causing the problem I think all maps are zip files when I download. Anyone ever heard of this problem?

hud, first off go here to dl ur maps.

http://www.ut.map-depot.com/news.php

all the maps are in .pk3 format. U dont have to use winzip at all. All u do is save the map into ur q3ut3 folder. U don't have to open the maps.

If you're using an IE based browser or IE itself, it saves it as .zip by default if the file format is .pk3. When the save to dialogue popups upon choosing a file to download( this only pertains if the file is in .pk3 format for this situation), at the bottom of that window, changed the 'save as type' to 'all files'. AFIK this will have to be done each time you download that particular filetype in IE or IE related browsers.
Maybe someone out there knows a tweak or a fix for this.(other than using firefox or another browser)

Just use another browser end of story :P.
Hud13 just like the other 2 said just down load the map file into your q3ut3 folder without the use of wiz-zip or pk-zip or any zip program for that. Make sure the map file stays as a .pk3 when you are saving the file.

Save to your q3ut3 folder and when the download completes, select the box that says "Open folder." When the folder opens, the map you just downloaded will be highlighted. Change the extension from .zip to .pk3 and frag away!
