"Punisher" aimbot

Gladi8r, Sat Aug 16 2008, 12:35AM

It's a large demo... published by request. Near the beginning, I observed what appears to be a 'snap-to' on enemy by a player named "Punisher", whose score at this point was about 40-5, with over 50% headshots, mid-airs, etc, which is why I started demoing. It appears that as soon as he noticed me spec'ing, he turned it off. You be the judge.

I was the Punisher and I was spawncamping under Doom, so my defense was good, no surprise on the score. I want to see this alledged snapping. Your post didn't attach the demo, Glad.

sorry gladi8r, no aimbot here, no snaps on blue, just someone who knows how to use the sr8 with a small ammount of situational awareness.
Re: "Punisher" aimbot
theSheilaDivine, Sat Aug 16 2008, 01:18AM

My defense is simple. The zoom effect of the sr8 is lost in the demo. My button for zoom is Q. I zoom in once and wait. Once I establish a target, I zoom in quickly twice more while zeroing in. The demo doesn't show the magnifying zoom effect of the sr8. It just shows a snap zoom instead of a draw zoom.

The initial shot on Maxwell (I think) behind black tower was because I see him to the right of my scope and then he shoots at me so I zoom in and kill him.

The alledged aimbots themselves are rationally disproved this way: The snap zooms are not centered on the enemy and the aimer doesn't hold steady on a moving target. My aim sways like a normal shooter's should. It also appears to me that when a target is in full view, I hit arms, legs, helmets and kevlar. I don't default to kevlar or torso body shots like aimbots I've encountered do.

Furthermore, to my recollection, I was shooting from under Doom. I don't recall changing this strategy until after Glad accused me of hacking. I don't really see where any mid-air shots would come into question.

That all being said, if I didn't know it was me, and not having seen this kind of snap zooming before, I'd be suspicious, too. But, again, to my defense, if it was aimbot, why would I use the final two zooms when the aimbot doesn't need it? The first zoom of the sr8 would be plenty to zero in on a target.

I think that's the best I can defend this demo until I review it closely again. Okay, I just did. My aim sways. Almost every time. There's nothing nonhuman about it.

I don't like being called a cheat. I'm also particularly annoyed that when Gladiator told me to go to another server and I said "No. I ref this server." (and then I changed my name to Divine shortly after) that this was somehow relayed to others playing later that I had said something to the effect of "I'm ref and I'll cheat if I want".

I took this personally because I like Gladiator and it bugged me that a regular called me a blatant hack. So I've been asking him to post it. I've been quick zooming like this since 2000. If it's fast, it's from a lot of practice.

I've also become aware that some players have become very good at masking their wallhack and aimbot with on/off buttons ::cough:: SOLACE ::cough::, and I'm afraid for the time when the program will mimick more imperfect behavior and become extremely difficult to detect.

Gladi8r, Sat Aug 16 2008, 01:33AM

Well, Sheila, if you weren't hacking, my apologies. Just seemed very suspicious, and the snap-to from right of black tower to van spawn point looked instantaneous and dead accurate. Inhuman, one might say. However, I'm willing to give a fellow 'regular' the benefit of the doubt.

Now, as far as "that this was somehow relayed to others playing later that I had said something to the effect of "I'm ref and I'll cheat if I want" you'll have to look elsewhere to find the culprit there. I'll say it again- I don't care who/what/where/when- if I see something suspicious, I'll voice it. And I did. The Sup server is full of hax and cheats, name-stealers, etc, and I know everyone is as sick of it as I am.

Peace.

Glad,

The snap from black tower to spawn is normal, since spawn was always my focal point and I want to look back as soon as I can in case someone is gunning for me. I look back, see a guy, zoom in and shoot.

Anyway, I'm glad you posted it. I've made some ridiculous shots in my day and until I saw what you meant, I was afraid you caught something I couldn't explain like a no scope whip shot.

My craziest Superman kill was coming from black tower to garage and whipping the sr8 toward the rear of the blue brick building and killing a guy in the head before landing on the truck. There is no explanation for that except sheer dumb luck.

GLAD, what you and sheila is calling a snap, isn't really a snap like a aimbot snap. they are very different. glad should watch some of the other demos posted in the superman only thread. http://www.kickassctf.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11245.0
you will examples of really bad aimbots that "snap" all over the place, some really good ones that the player has key binds to turn it on and off with, and the really sneaky ones that do not snap at all but only accurately track the target when firing. also examples of wallhaxs, watch the demo for wallhax with "r_shownormals 1" on and see what the wall hax sees. one way of separating the HAX from the really good players are to study there firing motions, when they attack and fire from a distance are they tracking in a consistent linear motion or if there is some amount of random XY motion in there aim. noticing this will take some time studying demos or specking players in the pub. but good information for all seeing as how the number of hax is still constant.

My gosh. Gladi8tor, i don't know how you concluded hacking. That's not the type of snap-to you see in wallbots/aimbots whatever they're called. I snipe like that. Sometimes with even more accuracy (sorry punisher :P). Plus if you keep viewing it, theres a bit where she fires UMP at blue, not very accurate there either.

But punisher, i would just take this as a compliment. You are THAT good that people consider you to be hacking :>

Pezcado, all demos posted are reviewed by numerous people. they are watch carefully by those who know what they are looking for. not all demos and accused hackers are guilty. and saying the accuracy is bad later in the demo means nothing either. hax can be toggled. i have no clue what the out come was, but FSK does a great job at handling these issues and it usually is not done publicly. and like Boogie said, your dredging REALLY OLD stuff. :?

that's fine, but as useless said, hacks can be toggled on and off. i appreciate your input on any demo.

in the future, i ask that you not be critical of the person who submits the demo, as we value the efforts made by our community members to keep the servers clear of asshats. i'd rather the demo be submitted and studied than for an asshat to slip through the cracks, just because someone might be concerned about being ridiculed for being wrong. i have seen several demos where i question if a hack was used, though i can't be certain either way.

in this particular case, it was the.$heila.Divine, who does not hack.

I’ve gone over some of the demos here as well as spec a few bots in action as well followed some reallllllyyyyy good shooters and when it comes to the tell tail sign of the snap verses a good shot there is a difference.

A good shooter has an ease in and a ease out of the shot even if it looks like the scope was snapped. A bot will snap and hold for a second as most times the boter will be camping and letting the bot do most of the work.
