what you need to know if you are a REF Level B3 Admin


Introduction:
I understand the growing concern about all the hacking, and the lack of effectiveness of the REF function on the superman server. Do to all the issues I have looked at a few alternatives to help manage the server. With the Help of Mindriot, a "X" FSK405 member he has offered a good solution. What we found is Big Brother Bot (B3) - B3 is a server bot that allows extended admin control and functionality. (B3) WILL REPLACE THE REF FUNCTION AND ALL THE REF LEVEL ADMINS WILL BE REQUIRED TO VISIT THE FSK-SUPERMAN FORUMS.

register - register youself as a basic user

Levels 0 - 100

PS. Im asking all the B3 ADMINS to Please work with FSK405 to make the transition into B3 as smooth as possible. I understand it's change and there is new stuff to learn. It is all done in the hopes of reducing hackers, and allowing more than one admin on the server at a time.

Rules-1- No racism
2- No abusive language or behavior toward admins or other players
3- Keep offensive language and asshattery to a minimum
4- Do not use cheats or hacks- you will be permanently banned
5- Do not fire at teammates or team kill, including retaliation
6- Please respect the admins (listen & learn or leave)
7- Do not impersonate an admin- you will be banned
8- Try to keep the team strengths even
9- No advertising of stupid things
10-No spamming
11-Camping and spawn killing are allowed- adapt
12-Do NOT go to forbidden areas


Warn shortcuts:
AFK, TK, Spec, Spectator, Adv, Ci (connection interrupted), Racism, Color, Fakecmd, Nocmd, Spawnfire, Cuss, Jerk, Sfire, Spam, Stack, Lang, Objname, default, profanity, camp, recruit, badname, argue
Note: some of these don’t apply to Superman server, such as Sfire & camp- though they may be available, do not use these


Spams-Vent, join, rtfm, stack, forum (you can also spam a rule)

Notes:
• A warn should be specific and consistent. For instance, a generic !warn doesn’t contain any info for the player or sysadmin to know why the action was taken, and will only temp-ban the player for a few minutes. If the warn is specific, such as[!warn player tk] or [!warn player rule5], the message to the offender (& the sysadmin) will be clear, and the pre-configured punishment will be more appropriate for the offense.
• Please submit demos of suspected hackers to the sysadmin per the instructions on the FSK forum
• Please submit the names, times, and any other pertinent details of chronic troublemakers to the “dealing with hackers” thread for inclusion on the “asshat list”
• Moderating on the FSK405 Superman server is a privilege that few players are entrusted with. If you use your Moderator status for personal revenge, grudges, or ego satisfaction, you can expect the sysadmin to revoke your Moderator status. Always be fair and consistent. We are here to have fun, not to bust everyone’s chops for every little fault.
• Set the example. As a Moderator, your conduct in the game sets the standard for all players in the game. Maturity, calm assertiveness, and fairness are the hallmarks of a great game server moderator.

hmmmm....Ci...I think I have used 999 in the reason when a player is such. Will that suffice or do all warnings have to be in the context of the post? I hate to have to refer to docs during a game to be sure.

[!ci player] will immediately & automatically boot the '999' player with the message "connection interrupted, reconnect". Makes it easier than warning 3 times 15 sec. apart then waiting for the boot. Of course, you higher level Refs have enough points to boot immediately anyway, so it's probably a non-issue for you guys.

That works for me!

Yeah- if someone is 999, the server sees that and it boots the person with the message "connection interrupted- reconnect". Quick and easy. They have to be truly 999, though- if their connection comes back to less than 999, even if the ping is very high, it won't boot them.

I personally think something similar should be introduced for afk.

When someone is afk it takes 6 (iirc) warnings to boot them - very time consuming when you're trying to ref a match, and when the server is full you just need the person kicked off, not banned (or at most banned for a very short amount of time, like 1 min), then they can reconnnect when they are back at their keyboard.

It does raise the question in my mind also if the 15 second waiting period is too long for some warnings. When someone is being a real asshat (or if they are using a very blatant hack) they will often leave the server before enough warnings for a kick / ban occur - very annoying.

Just my two cents.

Yes, they will usually throw in a couple of juicy expletives towards you (prompting a kick) but then leaving before you can kick them. That's why I make a mental note that the next time I see them on the server I will remind them what an ass they were and then kick them (even if only for 10 or 15 minutes) just so they get the message.

yes, but with the warn system (which is all i have at level 20) they just leave before the kick happens.

Level 20 admins have been granted !mute. as with any command, use it appropriately.
